Aqara Motion Sensor P1 China version (RTCGQ14LM)and z2m gateway
Zigbee2Mqtt
In order for this device to work, at least the following firmware is required on your adapter:

I don’t know about ZHA but with Z2M it’s easy
My Zigbee2Mqtt shows Temperature sensor for P1. So this is ZHA bug. ZHA does not show this.
adjust the sensitivity with Zigbee2Mqtt and the Aqara P1
I am using a Sonoff USB Zigbee Stick with Zigbee2Mqtt.
I was wondering if someone else has issues with this motion sensor?
I am using a Sonoff USB Zigbee Stick with Zigbee2Mqtt. I have two sensors set up for testing in two different rooms. Both do not come close to 7m detection range. The do not even cover 2,5-3m. I changed the motion sensitivity to high and low. Strange enough the setting “low” seems to cover a greater distance, but maybe just 0,5m more. In the one room you can be 1-1,5m away and the device works fine most of the times, but sometimes you can move a lot and it does not trigger.
There are so many reviews out there stating that the sensors are awesome. Thus I can’t believe it’s the hardware. But I am new to HA I am a bit lost for troubleshooting. Can I enable logging for these two devices to find out what’s going on or did someone experience something similar and has some advice for me? Thanks in advance!
Just made a test, mine triggers about 1 - 1.5m distance. Getting up from a chair in about 2 meters distance mostly does not trigger them. 7 meters would be a dream.
For checking if someone enters they are ok (if above the door), but for presence detection if somebody is already in the room they are not sensitive enough (at least in my use case). I have the p1 and the old one beside, both are nearly the same in recognition.
EDIT: I ordered 2 new pieces of them, they work a lot better than the one i bought april 2022. The new ones works in about 3M distance ( sensivity set to high) and are a big difference. So i would mainly say they are as good as the RTCGQ11LM but with 5 seconds blind time without a hack.
One of mine covers half of the kitchen (like 2,5m) , but not where we sit. We have to get up and move not even half a meter closer to trigger it. Waving arms does not do the trick. The other one is in a small guestbathroom and the one even has problems with the 1,5-2m range.
The specs say 7m, I actually wanted to get rid of my Hue sensors. One as suppose to cover a 6m
