In this tutorial,  we set the appropriate Region in the application(mi home app).

You can choose any region in the mi home app. But if you have imported devices, and also plan to buy more items in the future, then choosing  China is the best option as it has the widest range of devices.

Note that when you first set it up, it may be a bit slow, but it works. I'm from India and I have set the region to  China since some of the IoT devices in my home are China specific.

But the app itself will be in the language you use in your device (I have English), so you won't have any issues with usability.

Quick start

The first thing you need to do is to Toggle off  Beijing time zone in your smartphone settings.

The second thing you need to do is to change region to the Chinese  in the Mi Home app.

1. Launch the Xiaomi Home app

2. On the screen you can see an air purifier connected to the server for Poland. Go to Profile

8. You can re-enter Profile Settings to make sure which Region you have currently selected

Before telling you how to carry out this change, we must warn you of two nuances:

When changing region automatically you will lose the connection and configuration with all the devices already linked.

If you had even enabled experimental features like Alexa integration they will also stop working. Products from one region to another are not “interchangeable.

However, once you change the region, you will be able to reconnect all your devices. If you’re willing to start from scratch — you’ll need to link your account with Mi.com again, you don’t need to re-register or create a new one — follow these steps:

Enter Xiaomi Home/Mi Home.

Go to the ‘Profile’in the lower right corner.

Now touch on the ‘Settings‘.

Inside this new window scroll down to ‘Region‘

There you will find dozens of possible options. We recommend you choose ‘China‘, the region with the most devices to connect.
