Quick start

mi home app eu vs mi home app cn

more supported devices on screenshot is CN server, less is EU server

1.xiaomi mijia Region lock

因为各个国家法律的不同,并不是所有的产品都能销售到全球所有国家的,因此,米家App里如果设置了不是中国地区,是有可能在添加设备时找不到设备的(如:叮零门铃)。

In the 2016 ago, Xiaomi only provide their Cloud hostings in China and users of the Mi Smart Home App outside China regularly facing “slow problems” whenever they are registering for new devices under the App.

In the 2016 later,Starting from 2016, Xiaomi had added more cloud locations for some of their major markets outside China, these locations include Singapore, and India. You can now decide where to host your Smart Home App, where all your settings and configurations will be back up ONLY* to the cloud location that you had selected. If you switch region, you will not be able to retrieve all your previous settings from the previous region’s cloud storage.

your settings will only be saved on the cloud servers that you had selected, i.e if you initially select your location as Chinese , if you later log in and select Singapore, your settings will not be available as they are never saved on Singapore servers.

in September 19, 2020, Beta MiHome application released on September 19, 2020 includes checks on the hardware origin - if you have a camera which is supposed to work on China server but your hub has been modified to run on European server then it will complain that you need to switch to China server in order to use the device. You will get a message "Please download the China Version". This update will probably soon be launched on stable branch and released worldwide and will break all Aqara Hubs which were modified to use European servers. Currently the only soltion is to downgrade to older version (search appropriate apk on google).

Xiaomi Aqara Hub (CN) on European server

1.1 Why Xiaomi regionalization in European markets?

Do you remember the time of entering the GDPR and millions of emails in your mailboxes? It's all related. Xiaomi is a Chinese company whose main market is China. However, they want to enter European markets more officially. Therefore, they must comply with our laws. In China it looks quite different, so at the moment they are not able to present one system. Regions are necessary.

1.2.Xiaomi has 2 device groups

Xiaomi has 2 device groups, china and international. And you can’t mix them. China devices are region locked to China server, international devices are region locked to other servers.

The “Global version” are more for products that are released outside of China, with English manuals.

1.2.1  for example

When you are trying to use Xiaomi Smartmi Evaporative Humidifier 2 or other Xiaomi devices intended for the Chinese market, in other regions you will see a notification about not supported region, but there is a method to bypass it.

1.3 more devices  is CN server, less is EU server

By automatic seach it will find lights on mi home app CN server only, when I choose EU server and lamps are in connecting mode, MiHome APP don’t see them and it is also not in supported devices. Phone screenshots attached.

PS: CN=Mainland China, EU=Czech republic,

Mi Air Purifier 2H and 3H(Global Version)vs Mi Air Purifier 2s and 3(China version)

Currently there are 2 “Global Version” of Mi purifiers listed on Xiaomi’s International site – https://www.mi.com/global/index.html

These 2 “Global version” models are listed as Mi Air Purifier 2H and 3H, which is a mirror of the models released much earlier in China, as “China version” 2s and 3.

The following chart, with data extracted directly from Xiaomi’s official sites, gives the comparisons in specs

s 1. you need to do is to change region to the Chinese mainland in the Mi Home app

for example

HardReset.info: you will know how to use Xiaomi Smartmi Evaporative Humidifier 2 bought on Aliexpress or another Chinese webshop in Europe or USA. Learn how to unlock region blockade on Xiaomi Smartmi Evaporative Humidifier 2.

s2: I have a double app on my phone that allows me to have 2 accounts.

s 3.There are cracked mihome apps which support all servers.

Note:unofficially support the product!

that means that if the device is supported on that server, it will work (i.e. yeelight bath heater is not on EU server so it wouldn't work even with this cracked app). As far as roborock is concerned, you can flash the chinese firmware. This is the only device that can be flashed to EU (global) or china version!

ZNDMWG03LM  - chinese version mijia gateway gen 3

the product could not be used in the European servers. (I tested the device with EU ZigBee plug, but I was not able to make it work, so currently, it is not supported).
