region lock in Xiaomi Mi Home app
Xiaomi has 2 device groups, china and international. And you can’t mix them. China devices are region locked to China server, international devices are region locked to other servers.
1. You can only Add Xiaomi devices for the Chinese market to connect china server.
for example
When you are trying to use Xiaomi Smartmi Evaporative Humidifier 2 or other Xiaomi devices intended for the Chinese market, in other regions you will see a notification about not supported region.

example:
I recently bought human sensor that's from China but rest of my devices are eu products. I run eu server until now when I realised I can't connect this Chinese sensor because it's not supported on eu server. I then set up Chinese server and find out that's some of eu light bulbs and air fryer is not working on that server. Is there any way of making this to work? There's lots of devices on chinese server which I'm surprised because on eu server is just few devices. I'm using ios and I'm bit limited with apps I can download. I seen there's some cracked xiaomi apps that could sort this out but I have no android device. I will be very grateful for any good advice. Xiaomi have lots of cool devices it is shame that it is not working on one server
example
I use both EU and China at the moment: EU for Air Purifier and Roborock S50 bought locally in EU, and Mi gateway v2 with sensors, buttons and zigbee switches that are hosted by Chinese server. Switching is killing so looking for getting them all onboard.
2.A lot of devices are designed for the Chinese market only and lack certain certifications that may be required for your country (like CE).
The DGNWG02LM is by far the unit that is sold the most and used throughout the world, but it has a few downsides: It uses a Chinese style plug, and it only works well if you set it to the Chinese mainland server. If you connect it for example to the Europe server and go to the "add device" page in the Mi home app you will see far less supported devices. This is because a lot of devices are designed for the Chinese market only and lack certain certifications that may be required for your country (like CE).
3.More and more Mi devices are getting available in different countries outside of Asia. Soon you can buy Mi branded devices or sub-brands at your local electronics shop.
But be aware that your local bought vacuum robot will not work set to the Chinese servers, so you will not be able to control it with your Chinese Mijia gateway.
4.
The downside of using the Chinese servers is that the connection can be a bit unstable and even unpredictable. It happens from time to time that the hub and all its connected devices are not available in the Mi home app or that you cannot use the app because you are suddenly logged out, so from time to time the notifications or automations will not work because they are not controlled on the hub but on the (Chinese) cloud.
5.Home Assistant or use Homekit
If you do not use the cloud and just connect your hub to another system like Home Assistant or use Homekit then it doesn't really matter, you can even block the Chinese server through a firewall.
